InfoLibria and sofTV.net Join Forces to Bring Reliable and User-Friendly Streaming Applications to Large Distributed Organizations
Joint solution provides unmatched scalability, security and ease-of-use for streaming media presentations
Waltham, MA., May 13, 2002. - InfoLibria, Inc, the leading provider of server-based content delivery platforms for elearning and information dissemination, and sofTV.net™, the premier provider of software for fast and robust end-user creation of web-based rich media presentations and training modules, today announced a joint solution with unprecedented scalability, security and ease-of-use for large distributed organizations including corporate enterprises, government institutions and educational institutions. The offering combines InfoLibria's content delivery platform, including its award-winning MediaMall® and Content CommanderÒ appliances, with sofTV.net's sofTV.Presenter.2 and sofTV.ShowAndTell software.
Working as an integrated system, the joint solution enables users to quickly and easily create high-quality presentations combining streaming media and Microsoft PowerPoint, securely publish these presentations to any or all approved locations throughout the distributed network, host the presentations behind the firewall and deliver content to requesting end users. Live broadcasting to large distributed audiences is also supported.
How It Works
To create an on-demand presentation, content authors build a PowerPoint presentation to support their message. Using a standard webcam, the author captures the audio or video of message delivery in streaming format and uses sofTV.net's Presenter.2's simple tools to synchronize and edit the merged presentation. When satisfied with the final output, the author selects the approved distribution locations or workgroups for publishing. InfoLibria's Content Commander stores the presentation centrally and also distributes it in encrypted format to a secure, behind-the-firewall MediaMall servicing the selected locations or workgroups. Notification of new or updated content is automatically sent to the individuals that are part of the selected audience. When users click to view the presentation, it is delivered from the local MediaMall using the secure and plentiful bandwidth of the local network. Usage reporting tools track each user's content viewing for career management, certification and regulatory purposes.
A Unique Offering
Over the past year, many organizations slashed their travel budgets and recognized that streaming multimedia presentations provide amazingly cost-effective communication and education vehicles for both internal and external audiences. "The desire to reduce travel costs and wear and tear has really promoted the use of streaming media," says Dale Gantous, CEO of sofTV.net. "Most organizations understand the value of streaming, but believe that content creation is difficult and time consuming. sofTV.net Presenter.2 provides an all-in-one creation solution that is incredibly easy to use. If you can use PowerPoint, you can use sofTV.net."
"This offering opens new doors for organizations seeking to capitalize on the power of streaming-enhanced learning or communications," says Ian Yates, CEO of InfoLibria, "For the first time there is a solution that provides fast and easy content creation to spur internal adoption, secure publishing and distribution to protect proprietary information, reliable and high quality delivery of presentation content and a simple means for users to locate content on their network."
